
Grand Rapids, MI - Major League Roller Hockey (MLRH) announced Monday that David Vernier has been named the MLRH Commissioner, for their inaugural 2008 Season. Vernier will oversee the day to day operations of the league, including marketing and advertising efforts.Matthew O'Neill, President and CEO of Elite Sports Group, Major League Roller Hockey's parent company. "Dave brings a great deal of knowledge into this position. He is going to be a tremendous asset to MLRH, and we are glad to have him on board."Vernier has been very active in the inline hockey community for over 10 years. This past season he served as the General Manager / Player for the Michigan Rebels (MLRH) and represented the league in the Czech Republic in late July. "I am very excited about the opportunity that Major League Roller Hockey will have in the inline hockey community," said Vernier. "The lack of a true professional inline hockey league in the past 8 years has been very disappointing to a lot of people involved in the sport. We feel that the time is right for MLRH to return to full pro status and bring inline hockey back onto the map for the mainstream sports world."MLRH recently announced a broadband agreement with the B2 Network to televise every regular season game and playoffs throughout the 2008 seasonMajor League Roller Hockey's inaugural season of play will begin on April 19th, with 8 member clubs across the Midwest and East Coast.
